High Praise for the High Kings
Almost 400 People attended the recent High Kings concert in the Ballyliffin Lodge & Spa on Saturday 15 May. The 4 musicians, essentially the male version of Celtic Woman, sang and played a host of favourite Irish Ballads including the rousing Rocky Road to Dublin, the haunting strains of The Parting Glass, the irresistible Wild Rover and the stunning Fields of Glory to the delight of the audience.
Such was the rapturous applause and response from the audience, that they have promised to come back again next year to do another live performance at the hotel.
The 4 highly talented musicians made up Finbarr Clancy, formerly of the Clancy Brothers, Martin Furey formerly of the group Bohinta and son of Finbarr Furey , and Brian Dunphy & Darren Holden, both formally cast members of Riverdance are intent on bringing Irish ballads back from the pubs and onto the big stages where they belong and they certainly did this at the Ballyliffin Lodge and Spa on 15 May.
